As we begin to crave more warming and seasonal fall foods, it’s an exciting time to start playing around with spices. Ayurveda medicine is an ancient holistic healing modality that helps bring awareness to imbalances in our bodies. This healing method believes in aging gracefully with flexibility as we become more knowledgeable of our true self. Spices are commonly recommended in Ayurveda consultations as they can activate and soothe our digestive system while helping absorb nutrients. Not only are spices incredibly healing for our bodies but they also help boost the flavours of any dish.
Lately I have been craving carrot cake and I decided I could make a much healthier option in the form of muffins. These muffins are loaded with carrots, apples, oats and all the spices to keep you warm this season(cinnamon, cardamom, cloves, ginger and nutmeg)! Sweetened with one banana and a touch of maple syrup these muffins taste like breakfast on the go! They are best paired with a glass of fresh almond milk or your favourite warm, morning beverage. I recommend eating them warm with a generous slathering of nut butter and jam!
